Lexu Educational Institute Chantelle Gladwin-Wood

Chantelle Gladwin-Wood is an admitted Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Joburg Attorneys’ Association and Chairperson of the Gauteng Attorneys’ Association. She is South Africa’s foremost expert in municipal law and runs the Municipal Law, Probono, and Discrimination Departments at Schindlers Attorneys.

Her qualifications include a BA degree (Rhodes), LLB degree (Rhodes), LLM degree (UNISA), and she is currently pursuing her LLD with the University of Pretoria.

She serves as a sessional lecturer at WITS, and is an integral part of an initiative amongst several senior lecturers from institutions all over South Africa, to manage and innovate the teaching and learning space, as COVID has indelibly changed the way in which lecturers deliver material across all legal fields.  She has also recently been nominated to serve on The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) Chamber Committee.

Chantelle is constantly searching for new, engaging, and groundbreaking methodologies in education, ensuring the best possible outcomes for students enlisted and studying through LexU.

Maurice Crespi is an experienced legal practitioner with more than 21 years of post-admission experience and a sound knowledge of South African commercial, insolvency, labour, tax and corporate law. Chantelle specialises in all areas of commercial and residential property practice and litigation, including municipal property law, public and administrative law relating to property, sectional title body corporate management, evictions, general property management and property-owning enterprise management, as well as corporate restructurings and corporate taxation matters.

Chantelle has a Master’s Degree in Advanced Property Law from UNISA, and is pursuing her Doctorate in Municipal Law with TUKS. She is also an admitted notary and conveyancer as well as being Chairperson of the Joburg Attorneys’ Association and co-chairperson of the Gauteng Attorneys’ Association.

David Loxton began his career as a state prosecutor, working in both Cape Town and Pretoria and gaining experience prosecuting a wide range of street crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, drug-related crimes, corruption, forgery and theft. David then moved on to work as in-house counsel at a major listed entity, before returning to private practice. He has advised across all sectors of industry, as well as state-owned enterprises and government departments, in matters of governance, regulation, employment, litigation, corporate crime prevention and investigation. He has generally been instructed by Group Counsel, CEOs or boards as well as heads of departments and senior officials within the government. He has also acted as an advisor on highly sensitive issues involving fraud and corruption and has guided clients through risk mitigation and civil recovery as well as on disciplinary proceedings against implicated employees and individuals.

Israel Noko (“Israel”) studied Law & Social Sciences Diploma at the University of Warwick and a LL.B in Business Law at Coventry University, UK, and subsequently completed three law Post-Graduate Certificates with the University of the Witwatersrand. He started his career as a legal practitioner and, through practice, discovered that he wanted to combine his various interests and skill sets. One of his notable interests is developing and executing strategies which would enable companies to better position themselves in the market and develop partnerships with companies and organizations that want to implement “business sense” transformational strategies. He has been a member of a variety of Boards and he has played a strategic role in different Risk & Audit committees which require exercising the highest level of corporate governance. Israel is also the founder of NPI Capital Partners, a private equity fund manager which manages an investment fund in partnership with RMB Corvest. As a critical member of the NPI Investment Committee, he ensures that all relevant and thorough due diligences are done to ensure a return on investment for shareholders and ensure that the its investment policy is adhered to. Israel has also been involved in various mergers and acquisitions other general corporate/commercial transactions. He has also advised on BEE joint-venture structure, company formations and re-organisations. Israel has extensive experience in business entity formation and governance matters, M&A, and BEE financing transactions in a wide variety of sectors. He is a dynamic leader and has a unique way of developing out-of-the-box strategies to obtain the desired results in every project that he sets his mind to.

She is Certified in CaseLines and was involved with the conceptualization of the Digitization of the High Courts through the deployment of CaseLines. She led the team that sort to marry the Rules of Court with the modern world of Digital Filing. She designed and developed the Digital Filing Processes for the Supreme Court of Appeals, the Gauteng Divisions and the linkages to the Lower Courts. Her work culminated in the promulgation of the Digital Filing Directive in the Gauteng Divisions that underpinned the Court Operations from the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic to date. She was responsible for the training of Judges, Acting Judges, Chief Registrars and Court Staff on executing Court Operations using a Digital Filing System (CaseLines) She was the Process and Support Lead for the implementation of CaseLines in the Gauteng Division, and introduction of the same solution to other Divisions including the Supreme Court of Appeal. In her Role as a Snr Project Analyst she was tasked with working with Law Societies in facilitating the compliance to the Directive by Attorneys. She ran several conferences with Law Societies to acquaint them and their members to the new rules of digital filing in the High Court. Mandy has trained senior personnel and transformed organizations to embrace the digitization of the work place. .
